Sydney Writers' Festival strives to make every event as accessible as possible. All Festival venues are accessible, including wheelchair and level access.

Auslan-Interpreted Events

Tickets for Auslan-interpreted events can be purchased through the Sydney Writers' Festival Box Office, either by phone on (02) 9256 4200 or email ticketing@swf.org.au.

If you would like Auslan interpretation at an event that is not listed here, we will do our best to provide it. Please contact us at ticketing@swf.org.au. We require two weeks’ notice to confirm an interpreter.

Open Captioning

Tickets for open-captioned events can be purchased through the Sydney Writers' Festival Box Office, either by phone on (02) 9256 4200 or email at ticketing@swf.org.au. 

All events in Bay 17, Carriageworks, will be open captioned (excluding the Australian Book Industry Awards 2021). 

32 Kazuo Ishiguro: Klara and the Sun and 35 Rachel Cusk: Second Place at City Recital Hall will be open captioned. 

Companion Cards

Companion Card holders qualify for a complimentary ticket for their companion. Please contact the Sydney Writers' Festival box office directly on (02) 9256 4200 for assistance with your booking.

All Festival venues are accessible and have wheelchair and level access and multiple accessible toilets.

Vision

ASSISTANCE ANIMALS

Guide Dogs are welcome at all Festival events and venues.

If you are blind or have low vision and want to attend an event at Sydney Writers' Festival, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT can provide you with free training on how to travel safely from any location to your event at the Festival. Call 1800 804 805 to discuss your travel needs.


Online events

Sydney Writers’ Festival has a range of events for you to enjoy remotely.

A selection of Festival events will be live streamed to regional locations Australia-wide as part of our Live & Local program.

Enjoy a night at the library from home with our reimagined digital iteration of the Festival’s beloved Suburban and Regional Library Program.

Festival workshops will be delivered online (excluding Sweatshop Workshop: Jamie Marina Lau).

A selection of events will be made publicly available as available as videos after the Festival.
