Suzanne Leal

Suzanne Leal writes for all ages. Her debut novel for middle-grade readers, Running with Ivan, is a CBCA Notables book and was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's History Awards and the ARA Historical Novel Prize. Her new novel for middle-grade readers, The Year We Escaped, won the 2025 ARA Historical Novel Prize. Her novels for a general readership include The Watchful Wife and The Deceptions.
