Rataj Abdullah

Rataj Abdullah is a 19-year-old Libyan-born Eritrean poet and community organiser who grew up in Coffs Harbour on Gumbaynggirr Country and now lives in Sydney. Her work explores collective grief, displacement and radical hope, grounded in storytelling as a tool for change. She has been involved in literary festivals including Newcastle Writers Festival, Mudgee Readers’ Festival and Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival and she also featured at the National Young Writers’ Festival. Rataj is the 2024 National Youth Poetry Slam champion and a Youth Ambassador with Red Room Poetry.
