Matt Backer

Matt Backer is well-known as a regular on Play School and has had lots of fun acting as many different characters over the years, including a singer, a soldier, a writer, a policeman, a nurse, a fairy and even a tortoise! Matt’s been many of those characters while hosting over 1,000 episodes of Story Salad and he loves making up weird and wacky stories on the spot. His career as an actor began when he graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art. He has performed in many plays with Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare, Griffin Theatre Company, Belvoir St Theatre, Queensland Theatre and Hayes Theatre Co. Matt studied improvisation at Upright Citizen's Brigade in New York and Second City in Los Angeles and has just finished writing and producing his first short film. He has appeared on television (Prosper, Wellmania, Five Bedrooms, Operation Buffalo), film, audio books and award-winning radio plays.
