After growing up and thriving in Sydney's multicultural western suburbs in the 1970s and 80s, Luke McNamara has spent the last 30 years as an academic researcher and teacher. He has worked to understand law's relationship to racism, including what it means to outlaw forms of hate speech. His many articles and books include Regulating Racism: Racial Vilification Laws in Australia (2002). Luke is Professor and member of the Centre for Criminology, Law and Justice, Faculty of Law and Justice, UNSW Sydney.
