Lisa Gorton

Lisa is a poet, novelist, editor and essayist. Her fifth poetry collection, Mirror Landscape: New and Selected Poems was published by Giramondo this year. Lisa holds a doctorate on the poetry and prose of John Donne from Oxford University.

Her awards include the Prime Minister's Prize for Fiction, the NSW People's Choice Award for Fiction, the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal, the Prime Minister's Prize for Poetry (shortlisting), the Victorian Premier's Prize for Poetry and the Wesley Michel Wright Prize for Poetry. Lisa edited Black Inc's. The Best Australian Poems 2013. Lisa composed a poem for Izabela Pluta's forthcoming artist's film Use Wear.

Lisa's poetry has also been set to music in Michael Bakrnçev's composition for the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Lisa received a Creative Australia B.R. Whiting Residency in Rome to support the completion of the book-length sequence of new poems in her most recent publication, Mirror Landscape: New and Selected Poems.
