Laura Tingle has reported on Australian politics and policy for more than 35 years. In 2018, she joined the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as chief political correspondent for 7.30, after 16 years with the Australian Financial Review where she was political editor, after reporting from Canberra on both politics and economics for a number of other major mastheads. She is the author of Chasing the Future - a book about the early 1990s recession; and four Quarterly Essays. Laura has previously won two Walkley Awards: for Indigenous Affairs Reporting, and Commentary, Analysis and Opinion and was a finalist on a number of other occasions. In 2020, she was elected President of the National Press Club of Australia.
