Kirli Saunders OAM is a proud Gunai Woman who rarely stays in her lane. She's an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, writer, singer-songwriter and consultant. Kirli creates, to connect, to make change. In 2022, she was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her contribution to the arts.
Her award-winning film collaboration, Cry of the Glossy has been screened around the world. Kirli created drone installations, Buungbaa Ma Ndhu and Shared Skies and voice to artwork TRACES.
She is the author of nine books including celebrated Bindi, Eclipse, The Land Recalls You and Afloat. You can also find her episodes of ABC’s Play School on demand. Kirli’s solo theatre show, Yandha Djanbay was staged for Merrigong’s main stage season and will tour nationally in 2027.
As a singer songwriter, she forms one half of Cooee alongside Mark Chester Harding and they recently released their debut album Messengers.
