Hera Lindsay Bird is a writer from Dunedin, New Zealand. Her debut self-titled collection Hera Lindsay Bird was published by Te Herenga Waka University Press in 2016, Penguin UK in 2018 and a poetry pamphlet Pamper Me To Hell & Back by the Poetry Business UK in 2018. Last year, a selection of her work titled Juvenilia came out with US publishers Deep Vellum Press.
In 2017, her debut collection won the Jessie McKay prize for the best first book of poetry at the Ockham Book Awards and the 2017 Sarah Broom Poetry Prize judged by Carol Ann Duffy. In the same year, Hera received a 2017 Arts Foundation New Generation Award. She works as a school librarian and is currently writing a children’s fantasy novel.
