Dona Samson Zappone

Dona Samson Zappone is a poet, artist and children’s author. She was born in South East Asia of Sri Lankan parents and writes in Bahasa Malaysian and English. She was a member and performed with Auburn Poets & Writers from 2005 to 2018 initially – rejoining it in 2023. Her work keenly informed the concept behind Auburn Poets & Writers’ 2017 Sydney Writers’ Festival show and book, Grandma’s Bed. Her work has appeared in Malaysian, USA and UK, as well as Australian, newspapers and magazines. Her children’s novel, The Girl and the Dragon, was published to critical acclaim in 2021.
