Deborah Baker

Deborah Baker's books have been shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize in biography and the National Book Award in narrative non-fiction. She has received a Whiting Creative Non-fiction Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship and was a Fellow at the Cullman Center at the New York Public Library.

Her sixth and most recent book, Charlottesville: An American Story (2025) is a finalist for the Willie Morris Award for Southern Non-fiction. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, the writer Amitav Ghosh.
