Ashley Hay's work has been praised for its “intelligent scrutiny of the human psyche”, “a tenderness that is deeply compelling” and its “simple grace”. An award-winning novelist and essayist, and former editor of Griffith Review (2018–2022), she also works as a mentor, facilitator and editorial advisor. Her work has been published in Australia, internationally and in translation and her books include Gum and The Railwayman's Wife. She lives and works on unceded Yagera and Turrbal land in Brisbane.
