Amani Mahmoud

Amani Mahmoud is a performance poet who has been speaking predominantly at Bankstown Poetry Slam since 2018. She read her poetry at the 2019 Tedx Youth Conference and the 2019 Sydney Writers’ Festival. In 2022 she was the author in the arts showcase Behind Closed Doors, raising awareness for domestic violence in South Asian communities. Amani was part of the overall runner up team for the 2018 BPS Grand Slam and was part of the 2020 Grand Slam production. She has been attending the Sweatshop Women's Collective since 2020 in an effort to build her skills within and outside of spoken word poetry. By day she is a lawyer, using any free time she has to write.
