French by birth, educated in the United States, Alexandra Lapierre is a graduate of the Sorbonne University and of the University of Southern California. Novelist and biographer, she is the author of many bestsellers translated worldwide: Artemisia Gentileschi, the first Italian woman painter from the Renaissance; the American pioneer Fanny Stevenson, the wife of the writer Robert Louis Stevenson; Belle Greene, the founder of the Morgan Library in New York.

Her latest novel, The Very Secretive and Passionate Stella Miles Franklin, was published in Paris at the end of January 2025. It is to be published in Miles Franklin's home country by Allen&Unwin in April 2026.
