Sydney Writers' Festival is all about bringing writers to readers and that includes readers spread all over Sydney who attend the Festival through our In Your Neighbourhood events. We have a particularly exciting array of events taking place in Parramatta this year, bringing the Festival out west with some of the biggest local and international writers of the moment.
Yumna Kassab: Politica
The inaugural Parramatta Laureate of Literature, Yumna Kassab, is fittingly a Parramatta local and she'll be speaking to Sarah Malik about her new book, Politica, at PHIVE. You can read a teaser interview with Yumna over on our blog.
Crime Lords
Michael Connelly might be the biggest name in crime fiction with nearly 40 published books including his bestselling Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch series. He sits down with Australian crime fiction greats Chris Hammer and Michael Robotham, with host Benjamin Stevenson, to discuss the genre we all know and love.
Big Weekend of Books & Sydney Writers' Festival
ABC RN's Big Weekend of Books and Sydney Writers' Festival have teamed up for a recording with international bestselling fantasy novelist Samantha Shannon and The Book Show's Claire Nichols. The two will discuss Samantha's feminist fantasy retellings and her incredible popularity.
Holly Ringland: The House That Joy Built
Holly Ringland is most well-known for her novels The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart and The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding but it was a long journey through trauma and heartbreak for her to write those books. In The House That Joy Built, Holly reflects on her relationship to writing and provides guidance for anyone looking to re-embrace their creativity.
