It’s a prize that can change the course of a writer's career.

Each year a panel of five judges whittle down over 150 submissions into a longlist, then shortlist, finally selecting a winner for The Booker Prize – one of the most prestigious literature prizes in the world.

Mere days before the announcement of the 2025 winner, sit down with literary aficionados ABC Radio National’s The Bookshelf Kate Evans and writers Benjamin Law and Jacqueline Maley to dissect the shortlisted novels and predict the winner. Hosted by The Monthly editor Michael Williams.
