In this live edition of the literary podcast Secret Life of Books, hosts Jonty Claypole and Sophie Gee share the stage with writer Tony Birch to discuss his Miles Franklin Literary Award–shortlisted novel Blood as well as the modern British classic A Kestrel for a Knave. Both tell coming-of-age stories of young boys struggling in harsh and neglectful circumstances and the relationships they cling to for survival.
