Novels, much like our real lives, are webs of connections, drawing people towards and away from each other.

Journalist and Booker Prize–longlisted author Andrew O’Hagan crafted a modern Dickensian hit with his 2024 novel Caledonian Road. Spanning 60 characters living along the eponymous road in north London, the novel managed to capture a very contemporary portrait of the city.

In this special event, the chronicler of British life reflects on his literary career, his recent novels and On Friendship, a new collection of thoughts about the relationships that shape our lives.
