What do we do when words offend, not just in theory, but in the moment?
In this highly interactive workshop, Brave Conversations hosts Daniel Heller and Farid Zaid guide participants through a series of practical activities exploring offence, self-censorship and freedom of expression in public life.
Together, we will unpack why people experience the ‘same’ words so differently, how identity and power shape what feels safe or threatening and why many of us go quiet even when we care deeply. You will practise ways to name impact without escalating conflict, respond to challenging viewpoints with clarity and curiosity and hold the tension between dignity, safety and open inquiry.
This is a skills-based session designed for active participation. Come ready to think, reflect and try out new approaches you can use in workplaces, classrooms and community conversations.
