The Sydney Writers’ Festival Internship Program is open to applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students attending a Sydney-based tertiary institution as part of an enrolled course in 2021.

The internship program is designed to facilitate learning within a collaborative office environment, as well as offer practical experience working on a large-scale festival event. Each role has been designed according to specific learning outcomes. The internship program also provides valuable opportunities for students to network with professionals in Sydney’s thriving arts and cultural events industry.

Sydney Writers’ Festival is committed to ensuring students can maintain their study load alongside their internship commitment, offering a flexible working environment. Interns will be able to negotiate the days and times they are able to attend the SWF head office in The Rocks and may be able to complete some tasks remotely. However, it is important that Interns schedule availability during the Festival week Monday 26 April – Sunday 2 May 2021 so that they can see their contribution come to fruition during festival week.

Sydney Writers’ Festival is currently recruiting for the following internships: 

Podcasting Internship

Two SWF Podcasting Interns will learn skills required to contribute to the audio-media needs of the Festival. Reporting to the Recording Manager, Interns will learn about live event audio capture, data transfer and file management workflows, basic Digital Audio Workstation editing, basic Digital Audio Workstation editing and working to tight schedules within a fast-paced Festival environment.

Videography Internship

Two SWF Videography Interns will earn skills required to contribute to video-media needs of the Festival. Reporting to the Festival Videographer, the Videography Interns will learn how to facilitate interviews and assist during filming of Festival guests. The Interns will learn skills in recording and interviewing, help with equipment, and assist the Videographer over the Festival key dates (Thursday 29 April – Sunday 2 May).
