Elly-May Barnes is a mother, daughter, sister, musician, sometimes writer and a disability advocate. Elly has spent a lot of her life touring with her musical family (her father is music legend Jimmy Barnes) but has recently slowed down to focus on parenting, her health and her own projects. This year, she’s had a major operation on her legs, spent weeks in painful rehab, could only get around by wheelchair, home-schooled and she has cerebral palsy. You really can’t keep a Barnes down. Elly is currently performing a regular cabaret show at Low 302 in Sydney where she beautifully integrates all those things with love and laughter. Elly is a contributor to We’ve Got This: Stories by Disabled Parents.
