Art Spiegelman

Art Spiegelman is a critically acclaimed and highly influential artist and graphic novelist. His comics are best known for their shifting graphic styles, their formal complexity, and controversial content. His masterful Holocaust narrative MAUS won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize and was voted one of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years by the New York library in 2020. He is also the creator of Wacky Packages, Garbage Pail Kids and co-founded RAW – the acclaimed avant-garde comics magazine, with his wife, Françoise Mouly. Among his achievements, he was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, was made an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France in 2007 and won the Grand Prix at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2011.
