Born in Brisbane, Al Campbell is a mother and carer, who writes. Long ago, she studied a bit, acted a bit, and pulled a lot of beers. Her first ever publication was a short fiction in Overland in 2020, with more recent essays in The Guardian and The Sydney Morning Herald/The Age. Al's debut novel, The Keepers, published in February 2022, was acquired by the University of Queensland Press only four months after typing, The End. Al is a lifelong AFL and Essendon tragic, who hopes to one day die on a 'Windy' Hill (though a really long time from now).
