How do you mythologise a life?

In God Forgets About the Poor, NSW Premier’s Literary Award winning novelist Peter Polites pulls from reality to create a love story dedicated to his migrant mother. Set against the suburban sprawl of Western Sydney, Polites weaves his mother’s story around the migrant experience to create a modern mythology.

Peter is sitting down with fellow Greek-Australian LGBTQIA+ author Will Kostakis to reflect on the writing his third novel, which has been called his most striking work yet.
