Kate Mildenhall traverses time in her third novel The Hummingbird Effect.

Follow the lives of four women in vastly different times as they explore the threads that connect them, and the mysterious Hummingbird Project.

Simultaneously tender and dynamic, The Hummingbird Effect grapples with climate change, survival, and the enduring power of female friendship, all set against the changing Victorian landscape.

Sit down with Kate as she explores the inspiration behind this genre-bending novel.

My characters all struggle against different oppressive forces—abusive partners, unscrupulous employers, egocentric leaders and even government mandates—but they all fight for their autonomy, and in doing so, I think, make the world a little better for those who come after them.
