Award-winning Australian author Katrina Nannestad has a passion for stories with laughter and heart. Katrina reveals the inspiration behind her colourful settings and the quirky characters that inhabit them, and explains why writing a story might be the best fun you ever have.


A.F. Harrold is an English poet and writer who makes people – especially children – laugh. Join him for poems, stories and comedy in this highly interactive and silly session. Expect the unexpected (although if you’re expecting it then it’s no longer unexpected).

A.F. Harrold is an English poet who spends his time showing off on stage, and writing poems and books. He is the author of The Imaginary (illustrated by Emily Gravett), The Song from Somewhere Else (illustrated by Levi Pinfold), and the Fizzlebert Stump and Greta Zargo series.

Morris Gleitzman is a bestselling Australian children’s author and the Australian Children's Laureate for 2018–19. His books explore serious and sometimes confronting subjects in humorous and unexpected ways. Chris Riddell (International)

Chris Riddell, 2015–2017 UK Children’s Laureate and accomplished artist and cartoonist, has won major book prizes including the 2013 Costa Children’s Book Award for Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse. Other works include collaborations with Paul Stewart on Muddle Earth and the Scavenger series.

Katrina Nannestad (Australian)

Katrina Nannestad is the award-winning Australian author of The Girl Who Brought Mischief, the Olive of Groves series, the Red Dirt Diaries series and, most recently, The Girl, the Dog and the Writer in Rome. In June 2018, she will launch Lottie Perkins, a series for younger readers. Katrina writes books that celebrate family, friendship and belonging.
