Watch four of Australia’s most exciting comic and graphic novel artists wage a wily and wacky war! Their objective? Illustrate the funniest, silliest way to overcome any challenge posed by you, the audience. Comic combatants Mike Barry (We Run Tomorrow), Andrew Cranna (The Astronaughties), Chris Kennett (My Mum) and Remy Lai (Pawcasso) let their storytelling and illustration skills fly and create a magical mini-comic right before your eyes. Hosted by children’s book author Deborah Abela.

Remy Lai (Australian)
Remy Lai studied fine arts, with a major in painting and drawing. She was born in Indonesia, grew up in Singapore, and currently lives in Brisbane where she writes and draws stories for kids with her two dogs by her side. She is the author of the critically acclaimed Pie in the Sky, Fly on the Wall and the middle-grade graphic novel Pawcasso. Her new junior graphic novel series, Surviving the Wild, will be out March, 2022.
Andrew Cranna (Australian)
Andrew Cranna is an artist, educator and author. He grew up in rural NSW and after finishing a bicycle adventure through Asia, Andrew settled in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to teach English and illustrate political cartoons for local newspapers. Now, back in Australia, Andrew continues to educate primary school children as an art teacher while writing and illustrating for books and magazines. Andrew’s new book, The Astronaughties, blasts onto bookshelves in May.
Chris Kennett (Australian)
Chris Kennett is a Bendigo based digital illustrator with over 20 years of experience. Working his way from animation through to children's books, Chris has managed to work on some truly "out of this world" projects including the beloved Star Wars series of Little Golden Books. His most recent projects include the hugely popular School of Monsters with Sally Rippin and the hilarious series The Nerd Herd written by Nathan Luff, both of which are enjoying international success. As well as his own, recently released picture book My Mum.
Mike Barry (Australian)
Mike Barry is the writer, artist and singular creative force behind Action Tank, his graphic novel series for amazing kids. He has also collaborated with superstar author Nat Amoore to create We Run Tomorrow, a heart-pounding middle-grade tale that is part novel, part graphic-novel, all completely awesome. Mike has received multiple Australian literary nominations, including the 2021 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, The Russell Prize for Humour Writing for Young People, The Comics Arts Awards of Australia and the Aurealis Awards.
Deborah Abela (Australian)
After completing a teaching degree, Deb went to Africa where she was caught in a desert sandstorm, harassed by monkeys and thrown in jail…twice! She produced a national kids’ TV show before writing twenty-eight internationally published and awarded books, including her cranky climate-change trilogy, Grimsdon, New City and Final Storm, The Stupendously Spectacular Spelling Bee, Wolfie, An Unlikely Hero and the CBCA notable, Bear in Space. Her next book, The Book of Wondrous Possibilities, is about the power of books to change our lives.
