Award-winning novelist Sofie Laguna (Infinite Splendours) delivers a dynamic workshop on the art of creating vivid characters in fiction. An actor by training, Sofie provides a lively and challenging session, and demonstrates that the secret to overcoming the challenges of plot, tone, structure and style often lies in knowing your characters.
Using her own work as a springboard, Sofie encourages students to identify memorable characters from their reading and work together to create unique characters and worlds. Reading from their own work, participants consider their existing characters from new perspectives and deepen their understanding of storytelling.
Once you have booked an online workshop, information on how to participate will be emailed to you by 12 April. If you have any queries, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sydney Writers’ Festival is sponsoring one place per workshop for writers who may not otherwise be able to participate. Find more information and an online application form.
