Refine your picture book idea or draft with award-winning writer and children’s book author Maxine Beneba Clarke (The Patchwork Bike, Wide Big World and Fashionista). In this half-day workshop, you’ll analyse what makes a successful picture book before undertaking a guided workshop to create or refine your own project. In addition to writing style and techniques, you’ll explore illustration styles and colour palettes, pitching techniques and how to find an appropriate publisher or illustrator.
This year, Sydney Writers' Festival is sponsoring one place per workshop (20 spots across the week) for writers who otherwise may not have the access to participate. To be considered for a position, please complete an application form by 12 April. Selected participants will be notified by email from the week starting 15 April.
