The Choke is the brilliant and haunting new novel by Miles Franklin–winning author Sofie Laguna. Justine is a child navigating an often dark and uncaring world of male power and violence, in which grown-ups can’t be trusted and comfort can only be found in nature. Join Sofie as she speaks about her compassionate and claustrophobic vision of a child in danger who must ultimately fight back, and reflects on how she weaved empathy and hope throughout the story.
