The faces and voices making and appearing in our news are still catching up with the diversity of the community the news is supposed to reflect. So how can the media be made more representative and fair? Join Marc Fennell (the host of SBS Viceland’s The Feed and ABC RN’s Download This Show, Isabel Lo (founder of Media Diversity Australia) and Jeremy Fernandez (the host of ABC’s 10.30pm news bulletin) on this panel moderated by ABC Radio Diversity Lead Andrea Ho.

Jeremy Fernandez (Australian)
Jeremy Fernandez is a journalist, producer and presenter with ABC News. He has anchored and reported in the field for some of the network’s biggest broadcasts, including state and federal elections and budgets, the Brexit referendum, the Anzac Centenary, Sydney’s Martin Place siege, Melbourne’s Commonwealth Games and Perth’s Claremont serial killer investigation. Jeremy appears on the ABC's 10.30pm news, and ABC News NSW. He is also a regular contributor to the ABC News channel, ABC News Digital and ABC Radio.
Isabel Lo (Australian)
Isabel Lo is a freelance journalist and the founder of Media Diversity Australia, based in Sydney. Prior to this she was a senior editor at Mamamia, and produced at the ABC for shows including Hack Live, The Drum, Afternoon Live, Lateline Business and ABC News Breakfast. Further abroad she worked for CNN International in London covering notable events including Grexit, the World Economic Forum in Davos, and labour strikes in Asia. As part of the fledgling team that launched ABC News 24 she has worked in almost every position in the newsroom as a show runner, planner, presenter, autocue operator, supervising producer and tea room lady.
Marc Fennell (Australian)
Marc Fennell is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, author, critic and the host of SBS VICELAND’s nightly news show The Feed. In a career spanning the BBC, Network Ten, Foxtel and the ABC, Marc has interviewed everyone from Julian Assange to Tom Cruise. Marc also hosts ABC Radio’s technology programme Download This Show and is the Creative Director of the not-for-profit Media Diversity Australia.
Andrea Ho (Australian)
Andrea Ho has worked in broadcast media as a presenter, producer and manager for more than two decades, in city and regional locations around Australia. She’s almost always been the only culturally diverse person in the room. Andrea believes it’s past time our media looked and sounded like Australia as we are today, and she’s focused on achieving change through practical strategies and action.
