Join author Jesse Andrews for a screening of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, an award–winning film based on his book. Jesse wrote the screenplay for the movie, which won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. In conversation with YA programmer Clare Sawyer, he describes the creative writing process behind transforming the novel into a screenplay and participates in a Q&A.

Jesse Andrews is the author of the New York Times bestselling novels Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and The Haters. He also wrote the film adaptation Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, which won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

Clare Sawyer is a producer and programmer, specialising in family, education and YA programs. She is currently Head of Children’s and YA Programs at Sydney Writers' Festival and the Guest Curator of family films for Sydney Film Festival. Previously Clare programmed for Flickerfest, Dungog and Cockatoo Island Film Festivals and worked with the Youth Jury at Berlin Film Festival. From 2007-2010 Clare was Producer and General Manager of the Inside Film (IF) Awards. As a producer, she has made five award-winning films that have screened at numerous film festivals across the globe.
