RBG: Of Many, One playwright and lawyer Suzie Miller (Prima Facie) read her way into Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s character and intellect via hundreds of pages of cases and judgements. To bring her to the stage, actor Heather Mitchell (Everything and Nothing) even brushed her teeth ‘as Ruth would’. Heather Mitchell AM is one of Australia’s most acclaimed actors appearing regularly in theatre, film and television. With a career spanning four decades she has performed in hundreds of productions and her film and television credits are countless. She has worked alongside some of the world’s greatest actors, directors and writers and this year received the Sydney Theatre Award for her performance of RBG for the Sydney Theatre Company. A few of her credits include: Ricky Stanicky starring Zac Efron; RBG: Of Many, One by Suzie Miller and The Harp in the South adapted by Kate Mulvany for STC; Love Me, TV series for Binge/Foxtel; The Unusual Suspects for ABC/BBC, Upright with Tim Minchin and The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann.

Suzie Miller is a contemporary international playwright, screenwriter and librettist, drawn to complex human stories often exploring injustice. Miller’s plays have been produced in over 40 productions around the world and won multiple prestigious awards. Her drama Prima Facie won the 2020 AWGIE for Drama; the 2020 David Williamson Award for Outstanding Theatre Writing; the 2020 prestigious Major AWGIE; and the Griffin Award 2018. It has now been translated in 20+ languages. Most recently Prima Facie enjoyed extraordinary acclaim marking Miller’s West End debut produced by Empire Street Productions and starring Jodie Comer. The production will transfer to Broadway in 2023. Both the Australian and the West End productions have won and been nominated for multiple prestigious awards. Two new commissioned plays of Miller’s premiered in 2022: Anna K, for Malthouse Theatre; and RBG: Of Many, One for Sydney Theatre Company.

Ailsa Piper

Ailsa Piper is a writer, director, performer, teacher, moderator and speaker. She was co-winner of the Patrick White Playwright's Award in 2001 for her script Small Mercies. Her first book was a travel memoir called Sinning Across Spain, and her second, The Attachment: Letters From A Most Unlikely Friendship, was co-written with Tony Doherty. Ailsa has judged the NSW and Victorian Premier's Literary Awards six times. She swims daily, rain or shine.
