Debra Jopson is an independent journalist who specialises in in-depth features and investigations. During her 18 years as a journalist for The Sydney Morning Herald, she won numerous awards. They include a Walkley Award (with Gerard Ryle) for Black Land, White Shoes, which exposed property developers’ exploitation of several NSW Aboriginal land councils. Over the past four years, she has juggled fiction writing with journalism, contributing to The Saturday Paper, Fairfax Media, ABC TV's Four Corners and SBS Online. In 2014, she was the Walkley Awards Freelance Journalist of the Year. Her first novel is Oliver of the Levant.
