Sydney Writers’ Festival's main precinct is at Walsh Bay. This comprises venues at Pier 4/5, Sydney Theatre and Heritage Pier (Pier 2/3).

Events are also held at venues throughout the city, and in suburban Sydney and regional NSW.

Getting to Walsh Bay

Public Transport
The closest train station to Walsh Bay is Circular Quay.

Millers Point bus services 431, 432, 433 and 434 run from QVB to Millers Point. It is a 10-minute walk from Millers Point to the Walsh Bay precinct.

Walking
The Walsh Bay Precinct is approximately a 15-minute walk from Circular Quay. From Circular Quay, walk down George Street and take the Hickson Road turn off at Campbell's Cove. Follow the harbour perimeter along Hickson Road and walk under the Harbour Bridge to the Walsh Bay Precinct.

Shuttle Bus

From Thursday May 20 to Sunday May 23, we operate a return shuttle bus service from Circular Quay to the Festival precinct at Walsh Bay.

Buses depart approximately every 15 minutes between 9am and 7pm from the First Fleet Park bus stop on George Street. Buses travel south up to Essex Street and then through Millers Point and onto Hickson Road.

The 1st stop is opposite Sydney Theatre and the 2nd stop is outside Pier 4/5. Buses return directly to Circular Quay. The last scheduled return service to Circular Quay departs from Walsh Bay at 7.20pm.

These buses are wheelchair accessible.

Cost is $2.00 for a return ticket. As this is a charter service, one-way tickets, Travel10s, Concession Cards and Pensioner day tickets are not accepted.

Bicycles
Bicycle racks for 60 bicycles are provided under the awning on Pier 2.

Parking
The closest paid parking is at InterPark Bond Store One parking station at 26 Hickson Road (adjacent to Sydney Theatre) and Wilson Carpark at Towns Place, Walsh Bay, near the junction of Hickson Road and Towns Place. Limited metered parking is available on Hickson Road.


Accessibility

Most Sydney Writers' Festival venues are wheelchair accessible and some are fitted with hearing loops, as indicated in individual venue listings. The SWF Shuttle Bus that runs between Circular Quay and Walsh Bay is wheelchair accessible. After the Festival, some events will be available on our website as video or audio files.
