How are we funded?

Sydney Writers’ Festival is a non-profit organisation with one third of our funding coming from state, federal and local governments. The generous support provided by donors and partners is vital to the Festival’s ongoing success.

By becoming a Private Donor of Sydney Writers' Festival you will make a valuable contribution to the work we do and help us to bring the world's finest thinkers and writers to Sydney.

Large or small, all donations are gratefully received.

• By credit card online: click here to complete our online donation form and pay by credit card 
on our secure e-commerce site. You will receive an automatic confirmation and a receipt for your donation by email as soon as your transaction is approved. Please note that we can accept only Visa and Mastercard transactions.

• By post: print and complete the donation form (PDF) and send it
 along with your cheque or credit card details to Sydney Writers' Festival, Ground Floor, 10 Hickson Road, The Rocks NSW 2000.

We will not pass your details on to any other third party.

How will Sydney Writers' Festival recognise my contribution?

We are very grateful for donations of any size and recognise donations in the following way:

Distinguished Patrons $20,000 +
Honoured Patrons $10,000 +
Major Patrons $5,000 +
Patrons $500+

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. All donations of $500 or more will be acknowledged in the Official Program Guide distributed in The Sydney Morning Herald on March 31, 2012 and on the Sydney Writers' Festival website. Donations can of course remain anonymous.

Try a Giving Circle

We hope that together with your friends or colleagues, you might be able to raise a total of $10,000 (the average cost to bring out an international writer). Reaching this target enables us to invite a high profile festival guest and offer your group (or Giving Circle) access to the sponsored guest during the festival.

In return for your generous support we will highlight your outstanding contribution at the sponsored guest’s festival event, on our website, in our program and through our newsletter. We are also keen to hear if you have a preference for a writer from a specific genre. Crime, fiction, politics or a preferred region. We will endeavour to match your contribution to the relevant guest.
