School Days
Welcome to School Days 2009

School Days 09 imageIt is our great pleasure at Sydney Writers' Festival to invite families, teachers and students to join us for School Days 2009.

Over the last decade, Sydney Writers' Festival has grown from strength to strength and we are now considered one of the finest literary festivals in the world.

School Days has been a popular and important component of the Festival from the very beginning. Each year we invite primary and secondary students to experience a wonderful program assembled just for them.

Teachers, this is a wonderful opportunity for your students to engage with, learn from and be inspired by their favourite authors in a fun, educational and interactive day.

For Primary Schools

Plus, due to popular demand, Primary School Days expands to include a third event at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith on Wednesday 20 May!

Our Primary School Days line up features some of Australia's finest authors for children, Morris Gleitzman, Tristan Bancks, Danny Katz, Mitch Vane and Catherine Bateson, as well as the UK's Queen of Tween', Cathy Cassidy.

For Secondary Schools

Secondary School Days showcases the very best local talent in young adult writing, with Isobelle Carmody, Garth Nix, Randa Abdel-Fattah and James Roy. We are also thrilled to present one of the UK's most distinctive voices in teen fiction, Mal Peet.

Books by participating writers will be available for purchase at the Gleebooks Festival bookshop at each venue. You can also pre-purchase books from the Gleebooks website.

Sydney Writers' Festival is committed to educating young readers and writers and giving them the opportunity to meet the people behind the books they know and love and those they will enjoy discovering.
