Heather O’Neill is a contributor to This American Life and her work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine. Her childhood was divided between Virginia with her mother and Montreal with her father. She now lives in Montreal, Canada with her family. Lullabies for Little Criminals is her first novel. It was recently shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction.

Heather O’Neill’s participation in Sydney Writers’ Festival is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.

Helen O'Neill is an award-winning journalist whose articles appear in the UK, USA, Australasia and Asia. A former staff journalist for The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald and Vogue Australia, her latest biography, Florence Broadhurst: Her Secret and Extraordinary Lives, won the Australian Publishers Association’s Book of the Year Award. It was a finalist in the Walkley Awards and The Age Book of the Year, and is published in Australia and the USA. Documentaries on which Helen has worked have screened worldwide.
