In this workshop you will explore the process of writing a novel that uses history for the purposes of creating fiction. Antoni Jach will draw upon his experiences in writing his novels Napoleon’s Double and The Layers of the City to illuminate the key issues relating to the use of history in fiction. How much research is enough? How much research is too much? Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own interest in writing historical fiction.

Duration: 3 hours

This workshop has a maximum capacity of 20 participants.

Antoni Jach is the author of three novels Napoleon’s Double, The Layers of the City, The Weekly Card Game, a book of poetry, An Erratic History and a play, Miss Furr and Miss Skeene. Antoni, who is also a painter and a video artist, has taught fiction writing at RMIT University for over 20 years.
