The Artist’s Lunch is the ideal collector’s book for the art aficionado, full of quirky comments and unique perspectives. Join journalist Alice McCormick and photographer Sarah Rhodes as they talk about the experience of creating a book that led them into the homes of Australia’s most prominent and distinguished artists to unearth captivating stories of their lives and work.



Change from printed program: The venue for this event has changed from Simmer on the Bay to Sydney Theatre Richard Wherrett Studio. The time of the event is now 5.30-6.30pm (previously advertised as 4-5pm)

ALICE MCCORMICK (LOCAL)McCormick, Alice
ALICE McCORMICK is a freelance writer who has contributed essays and reviews on the arts to a host of magazines and journals since 1995. She has worked in London, Paris and New York, living in pre-fashionable Brooklyn when yellow cabs would not cross the East River and artists still lived in Soho. Currently based in Sydney, Alice McCormick also sells rare books on design and the arts at her gallery in Potts Point. She collaborated with photographer Sarah Rhodes on The Artist’s Lunch.

SARAH RHODES (LOCAL)Rhodes, Sarah
SARAH RHODES has worked as a professional photographer since 1995. She began her photojournalism career in Tasmania at The Examiner, Launceston, and further established herself as a photographer in London before returning to Australia in 2003 to join News Limited as a news photographer. Sarah currently works freelance, and collaborated with Alice McCormick on The Artist’s Lunch.
