The Science of Parallel Universes: Could There be Copies of YOU Out There? A Caf? Scientific
Event 326
print Print This Page

New theories in cosmology claim that each of us has many exact replicas of ourselves in other universes - in theory, you could get in a spaceship and if you travelled far enough, meet your identical self in an identical world! Some cosmologists say that if you accept space is infinite, then even the most improbable event must take place eventually. Come and hear the experts debate this amazing idea, and ask your own questions.

With special guests Marcus Chown, Charley Lineweaver and David Braddon-Mitchell. Hosted by ABC TV’s Paul Willis (Catalyst).

About Café Scientific:
Presented by ABC Science, these events bring scientists and experts out of the labs and into the pubs and cafes for lively discussions with the general public. In an informal atmosphere hosted by ABC science presenters, they let us in on their expert knowledge and opinions. Find out about the latest science ideas and how they apply to everyday life. Join in with your own questions and comments. The sessions are recorded for broadcast on ABC Radio National and ABC Local Radio.

Copresented by ABC Science.

MARCUS CHOWN (INTERNATIONAL)Chown, Marcus
MARCUS CHOWN is an award-winning writer and broadcaster. Formerly a radio astronomer at the California Institute of Technology, he is now cosmology consultant of the weekly science magazine New Scientist. The Magic Furnace, Marcus' second book, was chosen in Japan as one of the Books of the Year by Asahi Shimbun. In the UK, the Daily Mail called it "a dizzy page-turner with all the narrative devices you'd expect to find in Harry Potter". His latest book, Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You, is the most accessible guide to quantum physics there is.
