A contemporary and relaxed Quayside wine bar, Number One is the new star in Tony Bilson's firmament. From the Thursday to Saturday, it will become the place to be for all writers and readers looking for a post-event drink or a bite, and some very fine words. Guest reading appearances nightly from Thursday to Saturday during the Festival.

This evening's guests are David Malouf, Robert Adamson and Devin Johnston.

DAVID MALOUF (LOCAL)

DAVID MALOUF is the author of 11 books of fiction, including Johnno, An Imaginary Life, Fly Away Peter, The Great World, Remembering Babylon and most recently, Ransom. His most recent poetry is Typewriter Music and a new selection, Revolving Days.

His work is widely translated and he has won a number of international awards, including the Prix Femina Stranger, the Commonwealth Prize, the LA Times Fiction Prize and the inaugural IMPAC International Award. In 2000 he was the sixteenth Neustadt Laureat. He lives in Sydney.



DEVIN JOHNSTON (INTERNATIONAL)Johnston, Devin by Andrea Dunn
DEVIN JOHNSTON is the author of three books of poetry, including Sources. He is currently a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Creaturely and Other Essays will be released in September 2009. Devin published a book of literary criticism, Precipitations: Contemporary American Poetry as Occult Practice in 2002. He co-directs Flood Editions, an independent publishing house, and teaches at Saint Louis University, Missouri.
