Fantasy writers need special tools, as well as the basic techniques of good storytelling.
This workshop with Richard Harland looks at:
- creating an imaginary world and making it accessible to the reader
- focusing point of view in order to generate suspense
- launching a story and feeding through back-story.
The workshop also looks at how to approach and pitch to a publisher, and includes brainstorming practical exercises in the form of cooperative planning rather than writing finished sentences. Participants have the chance to have their own projects discussed, with a view to developing them towards a publishable state.
Duration: 7 hours
This workshop has a maximum capacity of 15 participants.
