Each year The Sydney Morning Herald names the authors they consider to be the best young novelists in the country. Susan Wyndham chairs a discussion and readings with the 2009 winners, who will be announced in The SMH on Saturday 16 May.

SUSAN WYNDHAM is the literary editor of The Sydney Morning Herald. Susan established The Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Australian Novelists annual awards in 1997. She has been editor of Good Weekend magazine, New York correspondent for The Australian and a deputy editor of the Herald. She is the author of Life In His Hands, a joint biography of the Sydney neurosurgeon Charlie Teo and his patient, the pianist Aaron McMillan.
