Paul Barry has profiled media and gaming magnate James Packer, Ben Hills has written the life of legendary ‘Age’ editor Graham Perkin while Jacqueline Kent’s recent biography charts the rise and rise of deputy prime minister Julia Gillard. Ben Hills (Australian) Ben Hills is one of Australia’s best-known investigative reporters and foreign correspondents and is the author of ‘Breaking News: the golden age of Graham Perkin’. He has been in the business for more than 50 years, principally working for ‘The Age’ and ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’, but also as a producer with ‘60 Minutes’. He worked under Graham Perkin’s editorship for six years, establishing ‘The Age's’ Insight section. He is best known in the book world as the author of the best-selling unauthorised biographies of Alan Bond and Kerry Packer. Paul’s work has won many awards, including two Walkleys. He is a former host of ABC TV’s ‘Media Watch’ and Channel 7’s ‘Witness’ and ‘The Times’. He has reported for Channel Nine’s ‘60 Minutes’ and presented ‘Breakfast’ on ABC Radio National. His most recent book is ‘Who Wants to be a Billionaire: The James Packer Story’.
Jacqueline Kent (Australian) Jacqueline Kent is the author of two general social histories and six books of fiction for young adults. Her first biography ‘A Certain Style: Beatrice Davis, A Literary Life’ won the 2002 National Biography Award and the Nita B. Kibble Award. In 2008, ‘An Exacting Heart’, her biography of Hephzibah Menuhin, was shortlisted for ‘The Age’ Non-fiction Book of the Year Award, the Queensland Premier's Literary Award for non-fiction, the NSW Premier's Literary Award and the Walkley Award, and won the Nita B. Janine Perrett (Australian) Janine Perrett’s journalism career began at ‘The Australian’ newspaper in 1979 and included lengthy stints in London and New York as foreign correspondent. On her return to Australia she became a television reporter with the Nine Network on the ‘Sunday’ and ‘Business Sunday’ programs and also founded and presented ‘The Small Business Show’. Since leaving Nine she has been a guest presenter on ABC Radio, a columnist for News Ltd and ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’ and most recently as a commentator on ‘Sky Business’ and a weekly panellist on ‘Sky News’.
