Anne Summers - journalist, editor and publisher -gives the 2014 Sydney PEN Free Voices Lecture on how current politics and media operations limit freedom of expression.

Dr Anne Summers AO is a best-selling author and journalist with a long career in politics, the media, business and non-government sector in Australia, Europe and the United States. She is author of several books, including the classic Damned Whores and God’s Police, her autobiography Ducks on the Pond, The End of Equality, On Luck, The Lost Mother and The Misogyny Factor. She writes on politics and social issues for newspapers including The Sydney Morning Herald. She is the editor and publisher of the digital magazine Anne Summers Reports and she hosts Anne Summers Conversations, public events where she engages in discussion with well-known people. Her first such conversation was with former Prime Minister Julia Gillard in late 2013, the second was with Tim Flannery in February 2014. annesummers.com.au
Miriam Cosic is a freelance journalist and critic, a former literary editor of The Australian, and a vice-presiodent of Sydney PEN. She is the author of two books, Only Child and Right to Die: An Examination of the Euthanasia Debate.
